  • If you are registered for In-Home lessons, here are a couple of points to consider to ensure that a positive learning environment is established in the home:

    1. It is imperative that a parent or guardian is present in the household at all times.
    2. Be sure that appropriate and well-maintained instruments are available. Pianos need to be tuned approximately every ten months.
    3. Lessons need to take place in a quiet space, free from distractions and interruptions by such things as television, video games, siblings, pets etc. It is also important that other family members in the household are aware of the importance of keeping the noise level to a minimum during the lesson in order to eliminate distractions.
    4. During poor weather, some flexibility is needed where scheduling is concerned. Do not be alarmed if your instructor is a few minutes late during times of icy or snowy road conditions. Also, with the growing population in Calgary, there is a greater potential for instructors to be occasionally caught up in traffic jams.
    5. Consider the comfort of the teacher and the student. The space should be well-lit with comfortable seating available.
    6. Please remember that the instructor is not liable for any damage that may occur to the home or its contents during the lesson time.
    7. Be sure to contact Chinook Studio of Music as soon as possible if you are unable to make a lesson. This will prevent the instructor from making the trip for nothing.
    8. Following these simple steps will ensure a high-quality musical experience in the comfort of your home.
